Program Notes

These Moments Musicaux, like their namesake Schubert pieces, are composed in the spirit of harmonic invention, discovery and innovation.  They are not intended to be bravura showpieces (like the Rachmaninoff Moments Musicaux), but rather expressive and intimate musical miniatures: each inhabitants of a unique and introspective harmonic world.  They were commissioned by pianist Oliver Kern, who premiered them on a solo piano recital in Seoul, Korea.
